The official national tree of Ireland, the Sessile Oak (Quercus Petraea), can grow 20-40 m tall and has a mature spreading crown with sturdy branches.  Commonly found in hilly regions, it hosts over 280 species of insects that provide food for birds and mammals – the perfect woodland tree for the upper canopy.
