Northern Ireland Tree Supply Issues For 2021/22 Planting Season

Northern Ireland Tree Supply For The 2021/22 Planting Season

Northern Ireland Tree Supply – in the aftermath of Brexit and the NI protocol, there are restrictions and prohibitions on the movement of plants and plant products from GB to NI. As an industry, we hoped that this would be short-lived and only affect last season. However, the reality is that we are heading into the 2021/22 planting season with these restrictions still in place.

In a nutshell, this means that all of our native broadleaf trees for this season are to be sourced from within NI & Ireland.

Fortunately, IndiWoods has a close relationship with one of the largest tree nurseries in Ireland, based in Wexford. We have been working together to ensure the supply of native trees to our clients.

In addition to this, IndiWoods has also stocked up on tree guards and canes. Tree guards are also in short supply due to shipping container issues/prices from China and the direct availability of materials from Covid.

IndiWoods launched its TREE SHOP earlier this year at www.indiwoods.com, and it has been a great success. Offering you the chance to secure your trees, guards and canes at the touch of a button, to be delivered or collected, once the tree planting season starts in November 2021. Our tree shop offers native trees in addition to hedging, tree guards and canes whilst stocks last.

Please ensure you order your trees well in advance to avoid Northern Ireland tree supply issues.

All our trees are suitable for Forest Service DAERA woodland projects – Forest Expansion Scheme & Small Woodland Grant Scheme.

If you have any queries, please get in touch with Carolyn. Having planted well over a million trees in Northern Ireland, she will be able to answer all your tree questions.
